We are a collection of beekeepers pooling our time and resources to learn from each other and promote honey bee health in our communities.
Just like beekeeping has a multitude of methods, ways, and means for the stewardship of honey bees, we also value and respect the identities, lived experiences, and diverse perspectives of our fellow beekeepers and community. Regardless of your experience and motivation, we believe that embracing and listening to all voices enhances our success as a community. Our goal is to enjoy beekeeping together, harmoniously, in whatever hive you choose, in one united apiary for the benefit of Mother Earth.
Benefits of being a member
We welcome all types of people and levels of beekeeping experience! Membership in the OBA is only $25 per year and goes from January 1st through December 31st. Benefits include:
- Supporting an association that advocates for honey bees and beekeepers.
- Networking and learning opportunities at monthly association meetings.
- Access to our library of beekeeping books.
- Use of OBA extractors and other equipment.
- Access to mentors and group mentorship opportunities.
- Member pricing for package bee orders.
- Ability to sell your honey at member outreach events.
Our membership unlocks a lot of value and benefits for active beekeepers, while our “Pollinator Partners” is completely free and gives you access to information (but not physical libraries). If finances do not allow you to join with a paid membership, but you are looking for those benefits still, please contact us about Student and Family Scholarships. We want anybody that is interested in beekeeping to be able to benefit from our knowledge.
